How to cope with the development of all solid state batteries? -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment
All solid state lithium battery is a new type of battery using solid electrodes and solid electrolytes. Its high density, high safety, high output power and other properties are more advantageous than traditional liquid batteries. It has a broad application prospect in the field of new energy vehicles, and is expected to replace the current lithium ion battery as the next generation battery.
Although many countries around the world are competing to develop all solid state batteries, there is a big problem in its practical application: there is a high resistance on the interface between the high-voltage electrode and the solid electrolyte, which affects the battery performance. So far, there is no clear solution. The research results have been published in the Journal of American Chemical Society, Applied Materials and Interfaces.(Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment)
In fact, Japan's new energy industry technology comprehensive development agency announced that it will jointly develop solid state batteries with 23 automobile, battery and material enterprises such as Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Panasonic, and plans to fully master the relevant technologies of solid state batteries by 2022. In the field of lithium battery, Japanese enterprises have been overtaken by Chinese enterprises. This new project will promote research and development with the full strength of Japan and strive to regain its hegemony in the battery industry.
At present, the international mainstream power battery enterprises are mainly lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium batteries, both of which contain electrolyte. The theoretical energy density of lithium iron phosphate is about 170Wh/kg, and the theoretical energy density of ternary lithium battery is 300-350Wh/kg. The space for improving the energy density of the two is relatively small, which brings serious mileage anxiety to consumers. At the same time, there are also safety problems such as low thermal decomposition temperature, easy combustion and explosion.
Under the situation that Chinese, Japanese and Korean enterprises dominate the power battery market, it is difficult for other regions to overtake in the current technical route. Therefore, some European and American enterprises have begun to shift their goals, layout new generation battery technology (solid state battery and hydrogen fuel cell), and hope to dominate in the next round of competition.
Not long ago, Volkswagen Group announced that it plans to independently produce solid state batteries in Europe to reduce its long-term dependence on Asian battery manufacturers in this field. Recently, after Volkswagen Group released its second quarter results, its CEO Herbert Dis said that the company was considering producing its own solid-state batteries and planned to start mass production from 2024 to 2025.
Compared with many enterprises in Europe, America, Japan, South Korea, China and other countries that are actively planning and developing solid-state batteries, Chinese enterprises have entered relatively late, mainly supported by scientific research institutions or colleges, but some enterprises are actively promoting the industrialization of solid-state batteries.
It is understood that Ganfeng Lithium said as early as March 2018 that it was conducting extensive tests on solid state batteries and planned to build the first generation of solid state lithium battery production line in December 2018; In December 2019, we will complete the sales of 300 million yuan solid state lithium batteries, promote the maturity of the second generation solid state lithium battery technology, and realize the feasibility study of the third generation solid state lithium batteries.
Jiawei Holding Co., Ltd. held the world's first "Solid State Lithium Battery and Fast Charging Lithium Battery Product Launch Conference" in Shanghai in November 2016, and stressed that the company will make every effort to accelerate the integration of solid state lithium battery and fast charging lithium battery in the future. In April 2018, the solid state energy storage technology company of Jiawei Longneng, a holding subsidiary of Jiawei Co., Ltd., was officially put into operation for trial operation.
Chen Qingtai, president of the China Electric Vehicle Hundred Talents Association, pointed out: "The global competition of power batteries is becoming increasingly fierce. Although European and American enterprises have lost their position in this round of competition, they are already making plans for the next stage of competition and are potential strong competitors.
