Toyota develops electric car batteries -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment
Hisao Yamashige, a researcher in battery technology at Toyota, said: "Lithium-ion batteries are the focus of vehicle electrification, and we want to go one step further: improve technology and improve performance."
Improving lithium-ion battery performance is a concern for all EV manufacturers. Extending battery life, increasing battery cruising range, and improving battery safety are what all manufacturers strive for.(Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment)
As Japan's largest automaker, Toyota has always played a pioneering role in hybrid technology. Its all-new, near-electric plug-in hybrid, the Prius prime, is about to be announced. By 2020, the company plans to make 20 percent of its sales of hybrid vehicles in India, up from 2 percent currently. Meanwhile, in 2020 Toyota will launch a pure electric vehicle.
Toyota's battery technology will also work towards preventing lithium ions from swimming unevenly and accumulating around electrodes, all of which contribute to short battery life, limited range and heat.
