The only "blade battery" production base -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment
Fudi Battery Factory in Bishan, Chongqing is the only production base for "blade batteries". Sun Huajun, deputy general manager of Fudi Battery Company, told the Global Times reporter, "Blade batteries have extremely stringent requirements on the production environment. In order to minimize the short-circuit rate of batteries, the factory must ensure a space of 1 cubic meter in key processes. Inside, there are no more than 29 particles with a diameter of 5 microns." According to reports, by arranging single "blade batteries" with a length of 96 cm, a width of 9 cm and a height of 1.35 cm, they are arranged together in an array, just like a "blade battery". "The same is inserted into the battery pack to form a structure similar to the honeycomb aluminum plate. In this way, while achieving the super strength of the battery, the safety performance of the battery pack is also greatly improved, and the volume utilization rate is increased by more than 50%.(Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment)
When talking about why the "blade battery" was developed, Sun Huajun said that in the past few years, due to the increasing requirements of the new energy vehicle subsidy policy on the cruising range and the energy density of power lithium-ion batteries, traditional lithium iron phosphate batteries have gradually been replaced by energy density. Taller ternary lithium-ion batteries are left behind. However, the advantage of lithium iron phosphate batteries is higher safety. "Blade battery" technology not only increases the energy density of lithium iron phosphate batteries, but also retains safety features. In the acupuncture test of the battery pack shown by BYD to the "Global Times" reporter, the ternary lithium-ion battery detonated instantly when the battery was short-circuited in an extreme situation, and the "blade battery" was "heart like water", and there was no open flame. There was no smoke either.
However, ternary lithium-ion batteries are still the mainstream in the market, and it is not easy for lithium iron phosphate batteries to rely on "blade batteries" to counterattack. According to data from research institute EVTank, from January to April this year, the installed capacity of ternary lithium-ion batteries in my country rose to 72.87%, while the installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries fell to 22.93%. In addition, with the development of new technologies and new materials, the future battle of power lithium-ion batteries will not be limited to lithium iron phosphate batteries and ternary lithium-ion batteries.
Li Yunfei, deputy general manager of BYD auto sales, also made bold predictions about the future development of new energy vehicles, "Five years from now, the charging facilities will be much better than now - companies, homes, shopping malls, and highways have charging piles, and there are no charging piles. It is necessary to ensure the battery life, so that the car is equipped with so many batteries. From a practical point of view, if it is for personal use, a new energy vehicle with a battery life of three or four hundred kilometers is enough.”
