The hidden worries and challenges of electric vehicles -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment
Lithium-ion batteries are currently the mainstream of power lithium batteries, and are closely related to the future development of the new energy vehicle industry. Industry experts believe that in the critical period when countries are accelerating the layout of the power lithium battery industry, my country, as a major power lithium battery manufacturing country, must get rid of the existing bottleneck, speed up the construction of the standardization system, improve the recycling and reuse system, and master the breakthrough core technology. Take advantage of the competition.
Abundant resources are underutilized
The 2018 my country (Qinghai) Lithium Industry and Power Lithium Battery International Summit Forum was held in Xining a few days ago. The "Lithium-ion Battery Industry Development Report (2018)" published by the forum pointed out that my country is rich in lithium resources, but the utilization rate is relatively low, and nickel and cobalt resources, which are important materials for power lithium batteries, are scarce and highly dependent on foreign countries.
my country's lithium reserves are among the top in the world, but it is very incompatible with this, that at present, the proportion of ore raw materials required for the processing and production of lithium products in my country is highly dependent on imports. According to the team of Zheng Mianping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the Salt Lake Center of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, the actual external dependence of lithium resources is as high as 70%. The salt lakes on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau are rich in lithium resources, but the "magnesium-lithium ratio" in brine is extremely high, which makes the separation and extraction of lithium difficult. Although these areas have initially formed an industrial chain from lithium extraction from salt lakes to lithium-ion batteries, due to factors such as technical level limitations and lack of supporting industries, there is a lack of effective connection between upstream and downstream companies.
Zhang Yongwei, secretary-general and chief expert of the my country Electric Vehicle Association of 100, said that my country's electric vehicle industry is developing rapidly, and it is expected that the output will reach tens of millions by 2030. At that time, the problem of resource supply caused by the bottleneck of development technology will be particularly prominent, which will make the entire industry chain. Cost pressures have risen sharply.
Analysts believe that the competition of global power lithium battery companies has extended to the upstream material field, and only by mastering resources can they take the initiative. Chen Qingtai, chairman of my country's Electric Vehicle Hundred People's Association, suggested that my country should take lithium, nickel, cobalt, etc. as strategic resources, pay attention to survey, evaluation, mining and recycling, further strengthen market supervision, and guide the rational return of prices, thereby reducing the risk of resource security. .
Battery recycling is basically blank
According to experts, the power lithium batteries eliminated by new energy vehicles still basically maintain 70% to 80% of the initial energy, and the batteries also contain some valuable metal materials, if unreasonable recycling is bound to cause waste.
Chen Qingtai said that my country's power lithium battery recycling technology is not yet mature, the acquisition network is not perfect, the management measures are not perfect enough, the support policies are not in place enough, and the business model and profit model are yet to be explored.
