The battery management system focuses on safety -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment
It is reported that Keyi Power was founded in Beijing in 2010. Its core business is the new energy vehicle power lithium-ion battery system (PACK) and battery management system (BMS), including the design, production and manufacturing of battery packs and BMS software and hardware. Keyi Power has been focusing on high-tech research and development in the field of new energy for a long time, and has undertaken the 863 project of the Ministry of Science and Technology in cooperation with Tsinghua University, SAIC and other units.(Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment)
Multiple factors should be considered for a good battery management system
Tian Shuo said that the battery management system of lithium-ion battery for vehicle power is a new field related to battery cell manufacturing, and there are still large technical barriers.
"Most battery makers have electrochemical backgrounds, while most car makers are familiar with mechanical design and vehicle applications," said Tian Shuo
As a tool for battery management and communication between the battery and the vehicle, the battery management system is known as the "battery manager" in the industry, which has a key impact on the safety of the battery and the vehicle. Tian Shuo introduced that Keyi Power has been working hard on the connection strength, thermal diffusion, waterproof, software and other aspects of components, and strives to achieve the best technology of the battery management system.
"First of all, our mechanical connection strength is required to be high enough to ensure that the battery pack can be firmly fixed under severe working conditions; secondly, in order to prevent the thermal runaway of the battery pack, we try to ensure that one of the batteries will not be extended to other batteries when it is on fire through structural design; thirdly, our waterproof degree will strive to reach IP68, which is the standard for submarines, and the battery pack can always soak in water without fire." Tian Shuo said, "Keyi Power has always taken safety as the bottom line in the design and manufacture of the battery management system, and dare not overstep it."
Battery overcharging is the joint responsibility of the charger, battery management system and the vehicle supplier
As we all know, "detection" and "operation control" are the core of the battery management system. In practical application, there are many electric vehicle fire accidents caused by overcharge. Many media report that the failure of "operation control" is one of the causes of overcharge.
Tian Shuo said that although the objective cause of the accident may be technical failure, virtually all safety accidents are caused by lax control of different links.
"In terms of overcharging, the first is the charger's dereliction of duty. The charger continues to charge when it does not receive feedback from the BMS, which is a serious lack of charger function." Tian Shuo said, "Secondly, the failure of BMS and the vehicle background control are not in place."
Tian Shuo said that at present, the quality of charging facilities in China is mixed, and many charging piles do not meet the national standards, laying a huge hidden danger to the safety of electric vehicle charging. It is hoped that relevant departments can standardize the field of charging piles as soon as possible.
On the meeting site, Tian Shuo also had an in-depth communication with the media on issues such as the power exchange mode of electric vehicles and the cascade utilization of power lithium-ion batteries.
Tian Shuo believes that the current domestic power change mode is difficult to promote in the field of passenger vehicles, not because of technical problems, but because of the design of the business model. In the future, the power change mode is more likely to be implemented in buses, sanitation vehicles, taxis or group logistics and other application scenarios; As for the cascade utilization of power lithium-ion batteries, Tian Shuo believes that lithium batteries are very promising to replace lead-acid batteries. Power lithium-ion batteries can be recycled and used in low-speed electric vehicles and electric bicycles.
