On November 19, Suzhou Qingtao New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., located in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, officially put into production a solid state lithium battery production line that can produce 10000 solid state batteries per day. The battery energy density can reach more than 400Wh. The products will be mainly used in special power supply, high-end digital and other fields.

As the "heart" of new energy vehicles, power batteries will undoubtedly determine the future of new energy vehicles. According to incomplete statistics, China's power lithium battery shipment in 2017 was 39.2GWh, with a year-on-year growth of 28.5%. Industry insiders predict that it will maintain a compound growth rate of more than 25% by 2030.

If buses, aircraft and ships will also be powered by batteries in the future, more power will be needed. However, the evolution speed of the current water-based lithium battery performance is slowing down. As a result, the plastic solid state battery will become the development direction of the next generation of lithium batteries, including Toyota, Toshiba, Apple, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen and other internationally renowned enterprises.

Suzhou Qingtao New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., founded by Academician Nan Cewen of Tsinghua University, is one of the earliest teams to carry out the research and development of all solid state lithium battery technology in China. Nan Cewen, an academician of the CAS Member, believes that solid state lithium batteries have stronger driving force, larger energy reserves, and can realize faster charging and longer duration. Autoignition probability of vehicles equipped with all solid state lithium batteries will be greatly reduced.

The solid state lithium battery production line, which can produce 10000 solid state batteries per day, has been officially put into operation, and a complete independent intellectual property system has been established, forming an industrial ecosystem of "new energy materials - solid state energy storage technology - automation equipment - comprehensive utilization of battery resources - incubation of scientific research achievements - industrial investment".

It is reported that the first production line currently in mass production mainly produces high energy density solid state lithium-ion batteries, large capacity flexible solid state batteries, and high safety solid state batteries. Another six production lines are being prepared to meet the needs of automotive enterprises in power batteries by 2020.
