NMR technology detects the internal structure of lithium-ion batteries -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment
When the lithium-ion battery is charged, the lithium fiber will attach to the carbon electrode inside the lithium-ion battery, which will cause the battery to short circuit, overheat and catch fire, or even explode. Researchers can use this method to scan and analyze the chemical composition inside lithium-ion batteries to eliminate hidden dangers. .
Magnetic resonance imaging is a non-invasive technique that provides insight into the microstructure inside the battery, visualizing minute changes on the surface of the electrodes. Both the electrolyte and the electrode surface can be visualized using this technique, providing a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of battery performance. Researchers will further study technologies and methods for high-definition imaging and shorter imaging time, and ultimately make batteries lighter, safer and more flexible.(Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment)
The method can also be used to study irregularities and cracks in the surface of materials, and to evaluate other electrochemical devices, such as fuel-powered lithium batteries. The research was supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation.
