Lithium battery technical knowledge -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment
Lithium-ion batteries are the batteries we use in mobile phones or electric vehicles.
A more professional explanation is a rechargeable battery that uses metal lithium or lithium alloy as the positive electrode material and uses a non-hydrolyzed solution.
Lithium-ion batteries can be roughly divided into two categories: lithium-ion batteries and lithium-metal batteries. We use a lot of lithium-ion batteries, and then we start to see that lithium-metal batteries are safer, more powerful, and more cost-effective. Lithium-ion batteries do not contain metallic lithium and can be recharged. The lithium-ion battery mentioned in this article mainly refers to the lithium-ion battery.(Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment)
Lithium-ion batteries are mainly composed of two parts: battery and management system (a simple management system is also called protection board). The battery is the heart of the lithium-ion battery, and the battery management system is the brain of the lithium-ion battery.
Battery, BMS (Battery Management System), PCM (Protection Circuit Module)
Lithium-ion batteries must use a proper battery management system or they are very dangerous. Lithium-ion batteries with a lithium-ion battery management system are often referred to as lithium packs.
2. What is a lithium-ion battery
Power lithium-ion battery battery is a kind of power, refers to the application of the battery on the electric drive system, it is related to the consumption of lithium-ion batteries, such as electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, lithium-ion batteries for electric bicycles, power tools, self- Lithium-ion batteries for balance vehicles, lithium-ion batteries are more widely used, and lithium-ion batteries are sometimes used as power lithium batteries for energy storage.
Compared with ordinary lithium-ion batteries, power lithium-ion batteries generally have more special requirements, such as high energy density, high volume energy ratio, wide temperature range, high power discharge support, longer cycle life and safer.
3. The structure of the lithium-ion battery
Lithium-ion batteries are mainly composed of four parts: positive electrode material, negative electrode material, electrolyte, and thin film.
Lithium-ion battery pack is mainly composed of two parts: battery and battery management system.
4. The working principle of lithium-ion battery
Lithium-ion batteries are repeated intercalation of lithium ions between the positive electrode and the negative electrode to realize the charging and discharging of the battery. It is actually a redox reaction.
The principle of the charging process is as follows (as opposed to the discharging process):
Positive electrode: LiCoO2→Li(1-x)CoO2+(x)Li++(x)e-
Negative: C+(x)Li++(x)e-→CLi(x)
Battery reaction: LiCoO2+C→Li(1-x)CoO2+CLi(x)
5. Advantages and disadvantages of lithium-ion batteries
The advantages and disadvantages of lithium-ion batteries and other batteries such as lead-acid batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries, and nickel-hydrogen batteries are compared.
Lithium-ion batteries have the advantages of high voltage, high energy density (light weight, small size), long service life, and environmental protection.
The disadvantage of lithium-ion batteries is that the price is relatively high, the temperature range is relatively narrow, and there are certain safety risks (a protection system needs to be added).
