Lithium battery cell technology -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment
The basic design of the lithium-ion battery remains the same as in Sony's 1989 patent application. The single unit shapes are cylindrical, square metal casing (aluminum/steel) and square soft case. The square battery has a large capacity and is generally composed of windings, z-shaped laminations, windings + laminations, positive cladding, laminations + laminations.

Cylindrical battery technology is the most mature, and the manufacturing cost is low, but the cooling capacity of large cylindrical batteries is poor, so small cylindrical batteries are generally selected. The car battery has a large capacity and a large number of batteries, such as 18650 lithium-ion batteries, the management system is complicated and the cost is expensive. The winding structure of the square battery has a simple manufacturing process, but it is mainly suitable for soft electrode batteries. The method can be used for lithium iron phosphate ternary material batteries other than spinel negative electrode materials.(Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment)
Laminated cells have high reliability and long life, and are suitable for a variety of material systems. Batteries for General Motors' Volt plug-in hybrid and Nissan's Leaf all-electric vehicle are made through a lamination process. By 2015, the specific energy of lithium iron phosphate single battery will reach 140Wh/kg, the specific energy of ternary lithium manganate single battery will reach 180Wh/kg, and the specific energy of small cylindrical battery using NCA will reach 240Wh/kg. In the next few years, the specific energy of lithium-ion single cells will be further improved, and it is expected to reach a maximum of 300Wh/kg by 2020.
At present, there are many kinds of lithium-ion batteries, and different lithium-ion batteries have different functions. For example, we often see lithium-ion batteries, lead-acid batteries, 18650 lithium-ion batteries, etc. Different batteries also have different differences. How should we distinguish them? Today I will talk about the difference between lithium-ion batteries and lead-acid batteries.

The difference between Li-ion and lead-acid batteries is that we first compare their durability. In general, lead-acid batteries can be charged and discharged no more than 400 times, and their storage capacity and service life are about 2 years. Lithium-ion batteries are more durable than lead-acid batteries, and they consume very slowly, with more than 500 deep charges and deep discharges, and still have no memory, and the general lifespan is basically 4 to 5 years.
Then there is the comparison of volume and mass. Most lead-acid batteries are bulky. The weight is usually between 16 and 30 kg. Conversely, lithium-ion batteries are generally much lighter than lead-acid batteries, which mostly weigh between 2.5 and 3 kilograms. It is small. It is easy to carry. The pollution in the production process of lead-acid batteries is very harmful to environmental protection. Lithium-ion batteries are more environmentally friendly.
The performance of the two batteries is not much different when using the same 48-volt battery, a lead-acid battery and a lithium-ion battery electric car can travel 30 to 40 kilometers on a full charge. The speed is highly dependent on the size of the motor used.
Finally, in terms of price, combined with the performance of lithium-ion batteries, there are advantages of lead-acid batteries in all aspects, but the price will be slightly higher than that of lead-acid batteries. This is also unavoidable.
