Daimler retrofits new battery items -Lithium - Ion Battery Equipment
Daimler said the revamp was part of a 1.5 billion-euro ($1.75 billion) plan to revamp Mercedes-Benz plants to produce zero-emission and self-driving cars.
In the future, the Sindelfingen plant will be the center for the mass production of autonomous and electric vehicles. The Sindelfingen plant currently mainly produces Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedans.
Frank Deiss, head of powertrain production at Mercedes-Benz, said: "With the increase in battery production, we are transforming the traditional Tturheim plant into a high-tech plant for the production of components for electric vehicles."
With the reorganization of the German domestic plant, Mercedes-Benz will have eight battery plants. Daimler already makes batteries in Kamenz County, Germany, and is building more battery plants in Beijing, Bangkok, Tuscaloosa and Alabama.
